A Lifetime of Exceptional
Art
Linda spent her childhood in Glastonbury, Somerset where she first developed her love of nature and the countryside. She started painting in 1980 whilst living in Billericay, Essex and although she had no formal art training, she soon had work accepted for exhibition at the Guildhall and Mall Galleries, London.
She moved to Beaminster in 1985 and quickly became very involved in the local art-scene joining Dorchester Art Club, Allington Art Club (now Bridport Art Society) and Mosterton Art Group and running Adult Education classes in watercolour painting for both Dorset and Somerset County Councils.
Linda has exhibited her paintings at galleries and exhibitions in many towns and villages in the South-West and in July 2000 she took part, by invitation, in an exhibition of work by British artists held in Holland. In October 2011 she exhibited in the USA. She has also been a regular exhibitor in both Dorset Art Weeks and Beaminster Festival.
Linda specialises in detailed flower studies with an abstract background of colour, and these paintings are very much influenced by the changing moods and atmospheres of the beautiful Dorset countryside and the many wildflowers that grow there in abundance.
She also paints landscapes, butterfly and moth studies, miniatures and cards and in 2005 four of her flower studies were reproduced by a publishing company as greetings cards for distribution throughout the UK.
